Seize the day: Don't wait to be contacted!

Much of the dating landscape has changed over the past decade due in large part to the advancements of technology and especially the explosion of online dating. Jumping onto the internet, joining a dating website like RSVP, and putting yourself out there to thousands of like-minded singles is now a very successful way of meeting your ideal partner.

However with these changes has also come a transformation in terms of the dating mindset. Nowadays, the expectations have changed when it comes to making the first move. It's now all about seizing the day and being proactive rather than sitting back and watching what eventuates. In RSVP's 2016 Date of a Nation Annual Survey they found that 82% of single women and 69% of single men were more than happy for members of the opposite sex to make the first move.

So for those of you that are in the online dating scene the message is clear. It's time to get busy, get out of your comfort zone and make the first move. The old rules no longer apply. It's all about getting in first. And it makes sense. Think about how many people are now on dating websites all around the world. The pool of available singles is huge and a large number of them are turning to the internet as a preferred method of meeting someone. So why wait? It's open 24/7, you control the pace, it's efficient and safe, and you can be selective. There are a range of different groups you can join, you decide if you want casual or serious, you can do the legwork or be matched by the site itself, and you can take a break any time you want to catch your breath. So get in the mix. Put your hand up. Make yourself known to other singles online and stay patient and positive. If it doesn't work with one single, this new upfront approach may certainly work with the next person. So get on the front foot and seize the day! Others are doing it - you need to as well.
