There are a variety of challenges that can come your way when you’re putting yourself out there in the world of online dating. One of the biggest obstacles can be when you’re not getting any interest. Over a period of time, you may start to take things personally, lose confidence and start to think “what am I doing wrong?”
Before beating yourself up about this situation and giving it all away, pause and re-evaulate what you can do differently to change up the situation. Follow these 5 simple tips to give you a chance at getting more interest:
1) Freshen up your photos
Previous RSVP Date of the Nation research has showed that a profile with a good photo will get eleven times more interest than a profile with no photo. This means looks matter, and you need to have the best photos of yourself displayed on your profile. So change it up.
2) Re-write your profile
It’s time to review your profile and give it an overhaul. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, be specific rather than too general about yourself, show a sense of humour, avoid tasteless handles like ‘lovefox99’, and steer clear of long lists of boring adjectives. Also do some research on other profiles that you like, and use some of these ideas.
3) Consider different online sites
It never hurts to look around and see what other sites have to offer. What you want to do is make sure that you’re in the right market for what you’re looking for. So read up on the different sites and be confident that they’re meeting your specific dating needs.
4) Get feedback from friends
Use your close friends to give you feedback about your online approach. They can give you an objective view about what’s working and what needs to change. They’ll also have experience about how to cope through times when you’re not getting much interest from other singles.
5) Get out of your comfort zone
One of the great advantages of online dating is that it gives you the flexibility to meet all sorts of different types of singles. So take a more adventurous approach and go after different types of singles. Widen your net and see if more interest comes your way!
