Online dating is now a very popular and efficient way of meeting like-minded singles. It comes with many advantages. It’s open 24/7, you have a huge pool of singles to choose from, there’s no stigma attached, you can do it at your own pace, you have different sites for different wants, it’s generally affordable, and it speeds up the whole dating process. 

So to get the most out of this dating process, it’s worthwhile knowing the do’s and don’ts of online dating. Here’s some to consider when jumping online:

 DO’S
* Research different sites to meet your needs (e.g. casual vs serious)
* Use an appropriate profile name  
* Use a recent photo
* Use correct spelling and grammar
* Be honest
* Make your profile interesting
* Be specific about your interests and wants
* Use simple terms and keep things short
* Go at your own pace – no urgency
* Be open minded and get outside your comfort zone
* Hold off on the sexualized talk
* Keep financial/ private details to yourself 
* Always consider safety first
* Be punctual
* Have your early meetings in safe and public places
* Tell friends and family about your date
* Be upbeat in your conversations and focus on the present and future
* Be patient and have fun


DON’T’S
